I’ve always been impressed by the idea of the Large Hadron Collider . It’s an unthinkably expensive, large-scale experimental apparatus designed for the sole purpose of generating and collecting data. Why would countries spend so much money on data? Why would so many people dedicate the better part of their lives to a project like the LHC? Because the so-called “hard” sciences – fields like physics and astronomy – have made the remarkable progress they have in understanding the structure of matter and the nature of the universe because they really care about data.

This job is perfect for me.  I am perfect for the job.  Define perfect! Looking at the calendar in monthly view, certain colors are prevalent; blue and green.  I am spending large amounts of time taking care of administrative duties–disseminating information, etc. and significant amounts of time in the classroom assisting teachers with the technology they have at their disposal there.  Much of the time is spent handling small classroom computer or printer issues, but this provides me exposure to/and acceptance from the classroom teachers.  This acceptance may allow me a wider opening when I try to share my tech ideas with them.
